Spiritual Direction
“God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.”
Mother Theresa
Holding Space - paying attention to glimpses of the divine in the ordinary.
Spiritual direction is a sacred space of listening, where you are gently accompanied in noticing the movement of the Spirit within your life. Rooted in ancient traditions of soul care, it helps you become more attentive to God’s presence, even in the ordinary and uncertain. In stillness and reflection, it nurtures discernment, peace, and a deeper trust in your path.
As it is often said, “The soul speaks softly—spiritual direction helps you learn how to listen.”
Your journey
Spiritual Direction at Stanton House is not coaching, counselling or therapy. It involves listening to people’s stories and prayerfully accompanying them on their faith journey without offering advice or solutions; it is an invitation to reflect and discern God’s gentle whisper in a safe and confidential space. This usually means a conversation of up to an hour with our House Chaplain who will give you space to talk and pray.
If Spiritual Direction would encourage you whilst you are here, please mention at the time of booking and we will be happy to arrange a suitable time. Please note we get booked up quickly and spaces are often limited.
If you would like Spiritual Direction as a non-residential guest, you can book our prayer room and ask specifically for some time with our Chaplain. Although there is no charge for Spiritual Direction, it would encourage us greatly if you were able to make a donation to our ministry.
